A famous Mumbai based Artist Parul Shah will display her recent thematic work in oil on paper / canvas in Nehru Centre AC Gallery, Dr.Annie Besant Road, Worli, Mumbai – 400018 from 28th Aug. to 3rd Sept 2012 between 11 am to 7 pm. It highlights the purity and ecstasy of divine love prevalent in ‘Abhisarika’ for her beloved in the relevant perspectives of her emotional extravaganza of sentiments.

‘Abhisarika’ signifies the lady who is eager and passionate to meet her beloved secretly in spite of social constraints. There is a lot of mystery associated with these secret meetings between two eternal lovers. In fact, this mystery has mesmerized and motivated Parul Shah to present this series of ‘Abhisarika’ the one going to meet her beloved.

The deep impressions set on her mind due to study and visualizations of the unique personality of ‘Abhisarika’ have resulted into the incorporation of the following important features in Parul Shah’s present work.

1. Abhilasha – Her constant thinking in mind about the time when she would meet her beloved.
2. Swapna Darshan – Her conceptualization and visualization leading to the fulfillment of the dreams / aspirations in mind.
3. Her memories are incomplete without him. She keeps on remembering & cherishing all of them.
4. Chintan – Deep sense of love and emotional attachment in her mind resulting into her unconscious mind craving to meet her beloved through sustained efforts overcoming all ordeals barriers.

Parul has thrown light on softness and tenderness of romantic feelings and emotions present in ‘Abhisarika’ through her expressive visual language which highlights not only excellent compositions and innovations but also the apt emotional state of the lady / character in the work through the relevant emotions.

As a result her work depicts intimacy and passionate form of love between two eternal lovers through the facial emotions for Abhisarika, particularly, eagerness, anxiety, exhilaration & enjoyment etc in the relevant perspectives of visual arts. She has endeavored to depict subtle nuance of essence of feminine beauty in her paintings through inner rhythm, tonal harmony of colours and expressive visual language signifying human emotions in the relevant perspectives of art.

Her series comprising Devashilangana, Garvabhisarika, Mugdha Navalanagha, Swakiya etc. denotes the supreme emotional crescendos and rhythmic feelings of ecstatic love in the sensitive mind of Abhisarika in the relevant perspectives of environment association with her sakhis, friends, pet animals / birds which are in fact the symbolic and strategic icons of eternal love and divine ecstasy.

In away, the work which is unique and expressive in its own way certainly render not only visual pleasure but also mental relaxation, amusement and exhilaration to all viewers owing to its clarity simplicity lucidity as well as picturesqueness in the relevant perspectives of visual arts.

Abhisarika is a very attractive & mysterious title. Abhisarika is the lady who secretly goes to meet her beloved. There is also lot of mystery involved in these secret meetings between the two eternal lovers .This mystery is what mesmerized me the most.
Our literature has distinguished women into eight types i.e. "ASHTANAYIKA"
1} Vasaksajja: one dressed up for union.
2} Swadhinpatika: one having her husband in subjection.
3} Abhisarika: one going to meet her lover.
4} Virahotkanthika: one distressed by separation.
5} Kalahantarita: one separated by quarrel.
6} Khandita: one enraged with her lover.
7} Proshitabhartika: one whose husband stays somewhere else.
8} Vipralabdha: one deceived by her lover.
My fascination is towards Abhisarika. It means engagement with love, one who moves, who arranges the abhisara [meeting].
I got this subject from the book, Rasikapriya written by the poet Keshavdas.
Abhisarika is a Sanskrit word which refers to the lady who leaves her home, who gets aside her modesty & secretly travels to meet her lover.
She has four features:
1] Abhilasha: She constantly thinks about the time when she would meet her beloved.
2] Swapna darshan: Her dreams are only flooded with him. All she can see is his glances throughout.
3] Smruti: Her memories are incomplete without him. She keeps on remembering & cherishing all of them.
4] Chintan: She is so much in deep love with her beloved that even her unconscious mind craves to meet him.
What touched me was the softness of Abhisarika. She is so engrossed in her dreams, wishes, worries & expectations with her beloved. The paintings depict the kind of love which is extremely intimate & passionate. She repeatedly glances down the path in great eagerness, anxiously awaiting the arrival of her beloved. one can see eternal love in her eyes.
Abhisarika is the central theme -I have tried to distil the essence of female beauty in my paintings. Another attempt is to portray on paper the beauty of unconditional & eternal love of which inner rhythm & vibrations are very closely related to the ecstasies of divine love.
